Initiating Transcription

Learn how to initiate document transcription in Document Transcribe.

Transcription Overview

Document Transcribe lets you convert text from images into editable content. This guide walks you through the process of starting a transcription.

Creating a New Collection

To start transcribing documents, first create a collection:

  1. Log in to your Document Transcribe account
  2. Click the "New Collection" button on your dashboard
  3. Enter a name for your collection
  4. Optionally add a description
  5. Click "Create Collection"

Uploading Documents

After creating a collection, you'll need to upload documents:

  1. Navigate to your newly created collection
  2. Click "Upload" or drag and drop your files into the upload area
  3. Select image files (JPG, PNG) or PDF files
  4. Wait for the upload to complete

Starting the Transcription

Once your documents are uploaded, initiate the AI transcription:

  1. Select the documents you want to transcribe
  2. Click the "Process with AI" button
  3. Choose your processing options:
    • Transcribe Only - Extract text in the original language
    • Transcribe and Translate - Extract text and translate it
  4. Select the language of your document (source language)
  5. If translating, select the target language
  6. Click "Start Processing" to begin the transcription

Monitoring Transcription Progress

After initiating transcription:

  • A progress indicator will show the status of your transcription
  • You can continue working on other documents while processing continues
  • You'll receive a notification when the transcription is complete

Document Transcribe offers these processing options:

  • Language Selection - Choosing the correct source language improves accuracy
  • Translation - Translates content during transcription
  • Batch Processing - Process multiple documents at once

Tips for Better Results

For the best transcription quality:

  • Ensure your images are clear and have good contrast
  • Select the correct language for your document
  • For multilingual documents, process each language section separately
  • Use high-resolution images when possible
  • Crop out unnecessary borders or markings before uploading
